Two years ago Area 51 released their latest album with the title "Embryonic" which includes ten tracks and more than forty minutes of metal music. When i first saw their cover i found it a little bit complicated and with a modern touch. The main surprise that i had was when i had started to hear the music from Area 51.

From the first track Area 51 offers to the listener a magic journey to the beautiful and complicated world. Musically the band walks in the progressive metal elements with some elements from the modern metal. Their compositions are well worked with some very interesting ideas inside them and generally i like the songs structure from Area 51.

If you want to have a small idea from the music of Area 51, imagine a combination of Tool, System of a Down and Metallica with the personal sound of them and finally we have the stuff that we can hear from this album. Because this is a 2004 release, i hope soon the band will release something new and everyone will be surprised by their musicianship.

SCORE out of 8.8/10 Antonis Maglaras
