Cessate
formed back in 2003, it is a new born band and so far they
have released their debut mini CD last year and before few
weeks, the band released their debut self financed album with
the title "Shattered Hopes" which includes
ten tracks of pure melodic death metal, with a little bit
more extreme vocals than the usual melodic death metal bands.
Actually the vocals are more raw and guttural with a lot of
distortion. The music is definitely melodic death metal with
influences from Sweden and bands like Dark Tranquility
and In Flames. Don't forget to inform you that
Cessate comes from Canada. Of course during the sixty
five minutes of this album you will hear a lot of melodies
and some aggressive parts. Their compositions are well worked
with interesting ideas inside them and the personal sound
of Cessate. From them i expected a better sound and
a better production, it could be better if they release it
some months later instead to correct these things. I believe
if they had a good production then for sure Cessate
would have the best melodic death metal album from the underground
scene.
