I
must admit something while I continue to do this review. I
have written reviews for more than seven years and I can assure
you that Downspell have sent me the best promo package
I have ever received. I think that Downspell included
more things that a reviewer needed but at least it was great.
Back
to the review now, the band comes from United States and "Afterbirth"
is their latest self financed album. Downspell included
thirteen tracks and more than forty minutes of pure modern
metal.
From
the opening track the band give us a simple picture of their
music. Here we have from hardcore elements, to death metal
with have dual vocals, and of course a lot of aggressive and
raw moments. The whole result is a very powerful combination
of classic metal elements with the modern sound nowadays.
The
band had written some really impressive and well developed
compositions with some very interesting ideas and above all,
here we have their energy. They have achieved to transfer
the energy of a live show to their album.
It
is needless to say that the production and the sound are satisfactory
and you have the chance to hear clearly all the things that
the band included in their music, especially if you listen
to the disc with headphones on.
Most
of the songs are about three minutes in length with a brutal
sound, so while you haven't seen that the previous song had
finished you will hear the next attack. Congratulations to
the band, I really enjoyed the time that I spend listening
to this album and for sure "Afterbrth" will stay
for a long time in my CD player.
