The
Downward Candidate comes from Denmark and they have only
one year of existence. K.B. Larsen (ex-Withering
Surface) and Allan Tvedebrink (ex-Withering
Surface) have combined their powers with Kim (vocals)
and Dennis (drums) in order to make something new.
After
a pre-demo recording in the spring of 2005 the band decided
to enter the Berno Studio in Malmo, Sweden to record
their debut demo with the title "Distort and Confuse"
with Berno Paulsson (The Haunted, Amon
Amarth).
From
the opening track the band gives us a punch in our face from
their powerful, aggressive and raw start of their demo. Musically
The Downward Candidate walks in modern metal paths,
with elements from hardcore, thrash and death metal.
Their
compositions are very well written with some very impressive
ideas and an extreme energy. I haven't heard such energy in
a demo release as in this one. A very powerful start for a
new band and remember their name, you never know.
