Elephant is a band from United States or i can say that it is a one man band and this man is propably a Greek guy? You don't believe how many bands i have found who have at least one member from Greece. Anyway, "Sands of Mortality" is the latest self financed album which has nine tracks and it is their third album so far. When you will put this album into your cd player prepare for a journey to the Elephant's land. Actually i don't know why the band has this name; i think it doesn't fit with the whole project. Musically the band walks in epic black metal paths and we some classic metal elements. You can describe their music as a combination of Emperor, Iron Maiden and Blind Guardian. Elephant pays a lot attention to the lyrics and to the vocal section, they are black metal but not so extreme, if you pay attention you will understand what Chris sings. To the music, you can hear many changes during the album, for example you will hear some thrash metal tunes or the extreme opening of "Istar Bleeds" and the epic close with "Sands of Mortality". As the most releases the weakest point is the production and the sound. I am not saying that it is a totally crap, but personally i believe after two albums, you must have a better result that this one. At least you can hear all the instruments clearly.
