Before two years i had receive the debut demo from Heol Telwen and i was impressed from their musicianship and their music style because we don't have many bands that combine the folk music with black and pagan metal. Actually the biggest band in this kind of metal is Cruachan but now they haven't so many black metal elements as in their early albums. Anyway back to Heol Telwen now, in 2003 i had receive from them they demo with the title "Mor Braz" and as i remember i had write that this band will have the future in their feets and now after two years of hard work via a new Greek metal Label, Burning Star, Heol Telwen finally will release their album in the first days of September. The title of their debut album is "An Deiz Ruz" and Heol Telwen offer to us almost sixty minutes of pure Celtic pagan metal. I must inform you that the band had use real instruments for the acoustic parts of this album and then they write the guitars, drums and finally the vocals. Because this is their first official release we can say that the band did their best in order to give us the best result of music. Definitely their compositions are well worked with interesting ideas and it seems that they had work hard for this. The only thing that i didn't like so much is the vocals, but at least this is a personal taste of matter, because most of the pagan metal bands use black metal vocals. But also i adore the traditional instruments parts which are almost excellent. A very good piece of work and i believe that Heol Telwen is the new rising force in this metal genre. Enjoy their music as much as i enjoyed it.
