Rex comes from Finland and late last year they released
their newest album through Hammer of Hate Records.
The title of this is: "Sielun Kadotuksen Sinfonia"
and if you take a look at the track list you will see that
the band had chosen to have lyrics in their mother language,
so at least for this section, I don't have many things to
say.
Maybe
if they had put the translation in the very beautiful booklet
it would have been better but anyway, back to the music. The
band walks in the underground black metal paths. In these
seven tracks they have unleashed all the power of hell through
their music and despite that they have an extreme sound, their
compositions have long duration.
All
of the songs are above seven minutes and their compositions
are well developed with some very interesting things in the
music section. The thing that I didn't like was the fact that
they had a lot of distortion, especially in the vocals which
I didn't understand anyway.
I
respect the will of this band to have this sound but from
the stuff that I hear, I believe if they had a better sound
and I mean a clearer production, maybe they could attract
more fans of the black metal scene.
I
don't know, I have heard their stuff more than three times
and I have the same opinion, I think that Ic Rex, had
written some really interesting compositions, but due to the
fact that the sound is like this, you can't understand them.
