LAAZ ROCKIT "Know your
enemy" is a blazing, in your
face thrash metal assault from the late 1980's that has become
sort of a cult metal classic. Until just recently, the
"Know your enemy" CD
was very hard to come by and the music wasn't even available
in specialty music stores [it was recently
re-issued on CD]. Unfortunately, the band really never received
the type of recognition that they truly deserved as superior
thrash metal artists.
"Know
your enemy" features the vocals
of Michael Coons,
who does a nice job of handling the singing chores. He mixes
and balances the aggressive screaming very well with the slightly
melodic portions of the album and comes across with lots of
energy (especially live). Speaking of energy, the album is
filled with energetic performances by Phil
Kettner and Aaron Jellum
(with some impressive dual guitar
axe attacks), Willy
Lange, thumping away furiously on
bass, and Victor
Agnello smashing his drums to smithereens!
LAAZ ROCKIT "Know
your enemy" has a great
mix of faster than the speed of light, guitar riffs, solos
and frantic drumming. After a brief instrumental intro, the
album's second track 'Last
Breath', comes
right at you and kicks you in the chest with out of this world
double bass drum assaults and searing guitar whaling. The
album is filled with great chants and scratchy vocals, courtesy
of Coons
and Lange.
'Most
Dangerous Game' is a very well laid
out track... a soft ballad that builds in energy and morphs
into a full powered crunchy thrash metal masterpiece. 'Mad
Axe Attack' will delight guitar
lovers...an extended guitar jam that spotlights the lead guitar
playing. The album closes out with two live bonus tracks,
