What
you can write when a label sends you a compilation of one
of the greatest bands from United Kingdom? Sometimes i feel
wordless when i receive releases like this one. When i opened
the package from AngelAir Records and i saw the name
of the band, Samson, it was a great surprise for me.
Samson
started back in 1977 when i wasn't yet born and actually are
one of the leaders in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal
most known as NWOBHM. From their ranks had for few
years Bruce Dickinson, now as lead singer in
Iron Maiden.
Sadly
Paul Samson, the main man, died in the first
week of August 2002. Back then he had almost completed an
album which will be released later this year too. Back to
this release, you will find eighteen songs and about seventy
five minutes of pure NWOBHM music.
Here
we have songs that cover the career of Samson from
1978 to 2000 plus five live tracks. It is needless to say
that the package is really very good with a huge twenty page
booklet full of photographs and sleeve notes from Rob Grain
(Samson Historian).
