Last year I had the chance to review the debut EP from The Scourger, a band that has in their ranks, the ex-Gandalf singer, Jari and Timo from Divine Decay on guitars. "Blind Date with Violence" is their debut album which was released early this year but it was only for Finland.

Now, through Cyclone Empire, we have the chance to find the album in Europe. In this new re-release the songs got remastered at famous Finnvox Studios, the CD got completely new artwork and above all we have five new bonus tracks.

Three of them are live tracks from their appearance in Tuska festival and the other two are a Slayer and a Testament cover. Just to inform you that the their latest single "Maximum Violence" was released in June and entered the top 20 charts at position 3 above Slayer.

If you hear it then you will understand why. I can assure you that The Scourger is the best thrash metal act in the metal scene this period. They have written some killer songs and their album is full of well developed compositions with incredible ideas and a great production too. Definitely we will hear from this band again and again and we will want more.

It is time for all the thrash metal fans to follow the crazy path of The Scourger. Believe me you won't be disappointed.

SCORE out of 8.8/10 Antonis Maglaras
