Dwell Records released before five years another quality tribute album. The time was for Mercyful Fate and with these seventeen tracks a lot of bands cover their favorite songs from this Dannish legend. The album begins with Equinox and Gypsy, nothing special at all, by the way Equinox had participated in a lot of tributes. But the first surprise comes in the second track, with Egypt and Soilwork that period had released their debut album through Listenable Records, a very interesting cover with the melodic death metal from Soilwork. After that i will stay a little in the cover of Memory Garden and Nightmare be thy Name, the band gives a doomy atmosphere to the whole track and they had done an interesting work with it. Then i jumped to Dan Swano and the incredible job that he did in the Melissa song. A very interesting cover by this great musician. Actualy the cover from Dan Swano was a surprise for me. Then we have the always good band Vital Remains and their cover To One Far Away / Rome To The Sabbath, a six minutes epos of this crazy death metallers. Then the almighty Varathron and Nuns Have no Fun, by the way have you heard their newest album? Anyway, in this cover the band uses clever the keyboards in order to give another atmosphere to the whole track. The vocals remain in the black metal side but very nice intro. Then last but not least we have the crazy guys from Necrophagia and their cover to Devil Eyes. Chaotic black metal vocals, with crazy ideas in the music section and we have the cover from Necrophagia, nothing more nothing less.

SCORE out of 8.7/10 Antonis Maglaras
