I
had the chance to review the previous work from Whispering
Gallery and when i read that they get a deal with the
new Greek label Burning Star Records, i was anxiously
waiting for their next release. So about one month ago the
label released the newest album from Whispering Gallery
with the title "Shades of Sorrow". This album
has eight tracks and more than fifty minutes of atmospheric
doom / death metal. As you can imagine the music is based
on doom metal with death metal additions and the band had
use dual vocals. Actually Reinier, does the clean and
the extreme vocals. The compositions from Whispering Gallery
are well developed with very interesting ideas and of course
with a great atmosphere and some melancholy too. Fred,
the man behind the synthesizers had done a very good jpb and
it keeps the whole atmosphere in high levels. Of course the
whole band has worked very hard for this very good result
and we must thank Burning Star records who choose to
release this work. Last but not least the whole production
is satisfactory and every listener is able to hear clearly
all the instruments. I truly enjoyed the whole album from
Whispering Gallery from the first minute to the last
one as i had done with their previous work. A very good doom
metal band from Holland who has many things to give to the
metal scene. Well done guys.
